The Environment, Health, Safety, and Sustainability Department within the Planning and Development – Licensing Division, part of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, has issued urgent directives aimed at improving safety levels and ensuring the protection of individuals, property, and business continuity.
The corporation emphasized the necessity for all licensees, operators, clients, and relevant stakeholders within its domain to exercise utmost caution and vigilance. They must fully adhere to the operational procedures established for rainy weather in accordance with the emergency plans set by each entity, while also ensuring that work teams are prepared and that rapid response capabilities are reinforced to address any emerging situations.
It highlighted the significance of continuous monitoring of updates from relevant authorities, implementing necessary precautionary measures on time, and maintaining direct and consistent coordination with the operations room at Dubai Ports World to ensure swift responses and effective handling of emergency situations.
The corporation urged individuals to avoid unnecessary travel, particularly steering clear of low-lying areas and zones susceptible to water accumulation or flooding. It also advised against driving on submerged roads or in watercourses, stressing the importance of not obstructing traffic or emergency vehicles during crises. Moreover, there is a need to protect and cover electrical equipment to mitigate damage from rainfall.
It asserted the importance of taking all necessary measures to safeguard workers while ensuring that business operations continue safely and responsibly.
The CEO of the Planning and Development – Licensing Division, Engineer Abdullah Mohammed Balhol, stated that the safety of individuals and the sustainability of infrastructure are top priorities.
