Promotions and Events Boost Domestic Tourism in the UAE During Eid al-Fitr

The tourism, entertainment venues, and hotels across the United Arab Emirates are experiencing a significant surge in activity coinciding with the Eid al-Fitr holiday, fueled by a high turnout from families and residents who are engaging with various events and promotions launched across the Emirates in celebration of the occasion.

This increase in activity is linked to the diversity of programs and activities, particularly those tailored for families. These include entertainment shows, children’s events, shopping festivals, and promotional offers provided by shopping centers and tourist attractions.

Abu Dhabi is witnessing notable interest in several entertainment and tourism destinations. For instance, Yas Island offers various entertainment options and accommodations, providing visitors with diverse experiences during the holiday.

The Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is a prominent destination for visitors during Eid, while the Zayed National Museum is hosting the “Eid Joy” initiative, a community engagement program celebrating the Year of the Family 2026. This program invites families and the local community—both residents and visitors—to participate in cultural performances, workshops, and interactive activities inspired by Emirati heritage, held within the museum’s exhibition halls and public spaces.

The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism is organizing the second edition of the “Ghayth Al Ain Festival,” featuring new cultural experiences and entertainment from March 20 to 27, held outdoors at the ADNEC Al Ain Center, celebrating the spirit of Eid al-Fitr with numerous performances and activities.

In Dubai, the variety of offerings draws large crowds to key attractions such as the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall.

Expo Dubai is hosting a range of Eid events, including the “Eid in Terra” festival, taking place from the first day of Eid until March 22. This cultural festival embodies the essence of Eid, weaving together innovation, heritage, and nature. In the heart of Terra Park, families can hang messages of hope and wishes on the Eid Wish Tree.

Visitors can engage in heritage workshops focusing on weaving and palm frond crafting, alongside creative workshops for decorating lanterns and Eid cards, Islamic geometric arts, as well as clay art inspired by nature. Guests will also have opportunities to enjoy camel rides and observe animals up close.

Additionally, during Eid, Expo Dubai is offering free access to Dubai Views, an immersive experience showcasing the journey of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, allowing families to reflect on values of leadership, resilience, and Dubai’s journey through the years.

The Spring Camp for Little Explorers at Expo will run until March 27, and a musical evening in honor of International Mother’s Day will take place on March 21.

Marjan Faridouni, Head of Human Resources and Education and Culture at Expo Dubai, stated that the venue is designed to bring together visitors of all ages and cultures to celebrate and share their experiences.

Dubai Miracle Garden has announced free admission from March 15 until the end of the month, while other Dubai attractions are offering similar incentives, including free entry to Aqua Adventure and The Lost Chambers Aquarium for both residents and tourists from March 10 to 22.

Industry professionals highlighted that the Eid al-Fitr season is pivotal for local tourism, with hotels and resorts eager to offer special packages that include accommodations and entertainment activities, contributing to increased occupancy rates during the holiday.

Hossni Abdelhadi, Chief Executive of Carlton Hotels in the UAE, noted that the sector looks forward to Eid annually, as this period sees a significant rise in demand and bookings.

He explained that there has been a good influx of guests recently, particularly with many residents choosing to spend the Eid holiday locally, emphasizing that many hotels have introduced special packages with discounts during this time.

He emphasized that domestic tourism is the primary driver of demand during Eid al-Fitr 2026, supported by the wide range of events and celebrations happening across the Emirates.

Walid Al Owa, General Manager of Tamani Hotel, affirmed that the hotel sector in Dubai is experiencing good occupancy levels during Eid al-Fitr 2026 due to unique circumstances, primarily driven by domestic tourism and competitive offers from hotels.

He mentioned that many hotels are providing room rate discounts as well as reductions on food and beverage services within their restaurants, with these promotions widely advertised through various booking platforms, both online and direct.

The occupancy rates during Eid are projected to range between 65% and 70%, with domestic tourism being the main factor driving demand. He noted that visitors tend to prefer destinations close to beaches and entertainment landmarks, which offer an all-encompassing experience that combines lodging with family activities.
