The Sharjah Businesswomen Council, part of the Sharjah Foundation for Supporting Entrepreneurial Projects, is dedicated to empowering women economically. This commitment is highlighted by the introduction of innovative initiatives and training programs designed to align with market trends and support the next generation of female entrepreneurs, reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a regional hub for women’s entrepreneurship.
Recent indicators from the “Middle East Economy” report reveal that 84% of women in the UAE are considering starting their own businesses. Among them, 53% are millennials, followed by 44% from Generation Z. This trend reflects a growing awareness of women’s economic roles and the emergence of a new wave of entrepreneurs equipped with advanced digital tools and global perspectives.
Across the Arab world, a study by Mastercard found that 81% of female entrepreneurs maintain a digital presence for their projects, utilizing websites or social media platforms. This marks a significant advancement in leveraging digital means for women’s economic empowerment.
Sheikha Hind bint Majid Al Qasimi, Chairwoman of the Sharjah Businesswomen Council, emphasized that the new generation of female entrepreneurs aims for growth and tangible social impact through the establishment of innovative and sustainable projects. She stated, “We at the council do not just adapt to change; we strive to create an environment that fosters its growth and influence. Empowering women today goes beyond providing tools; it involves opening pathways for effective participation in shaping the future economy.”
The Chairwoman stressed that rapid digital transformations necessitate the transfer and development of skills, aiming to nurture a generation of women capable of engaging with global economic changes while preserving cultural identity. She highlighted the council’s vision of turning every female idea into an economic opportunity and every local project into a global success story.
