UAE President Sheikh Mohamed meets Ukrainian President Zelensky

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, welcomed Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Monday during his official visit to the Emirates. During the meeting at Qasr Al-Shati in Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed warmly welcomed Zelensky and his accompanying delegation. He expressed hope that the visit would contribute to further strengthening bilateral relations in various fields. He also conveyed his best wishes for stability and prosperity to Ukraine and its people, reported by Khaleej Times.

The leaders of the two countries discussed various aspects of cooperation, including in the fields of economy, investment, development, renewable energy and food security, as well as other areas that meet the development priorities of both countries. The UAE ruler reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to developing effective international partnerships in various sectors to achieve shared progress and prosperity.

UAE’s Support for Peaceful Resolution of the Conflict

Sheikh Mohamed highlighted the UAE’s consistent approach to supporting peaceful resolution of crises, stressing that development can only be achieved in a stable environment. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to supporting all efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine and to continuing initiatives to mitigate its humanitarian impact.

The Head of State also thanked President Zelensky for the Ukrainian government’s cooperation in supporting the UAE’s mediation efforts in the prisoner exchange between Ukraine and Russia. He noted that this cooperation demonstrates confidence in the UAE’s role in mitigating the humanitarian consequences of the conflict.

President Zelensky reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the UAE, highlighting the numerous opportunities available in various sectors. He also expressed his gratitude to Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE’s continued diplomatic efforts to facilitate the prisoner exchange and its humanitarian attention to the crisis. Following the meeting, the UAE Ruler hosted a luncheon in honor of President Zelensky and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting was also attended by Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor; Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs; Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Special Cases; Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Advisor to the President of the UAE; and other distinguished dignitaries, as well as the delegation accompanying the President of Ukraine.
