The United Arab Emirates has retained its position as the seventh-best country globally and the leading nation in the Middle East in the 2026 Henley Opportunity Index, according to the 2026 Henley Education Report. The UAE scored a total of 68 points out of 100, reflecting its potential to transform education into sustainable economic success.
The UAE achieved remarkable results in the area of exceptional employment opportunities, earning 82 points—one of the highest scores worldwide. This reflects the extensive presence of international companies and the availability of quality jobs. In terms of income potential, the UAE received 73 points, confirming the ability of residents to secure sustainable earnings within a rapidly growing and diversified economy. Furthermore, the quality of education was rated at 71 points, supported by a range of international educational institutions and advancements in the academic sector.
On the economic mobility front, the UAE scored 66 points, indicating that individuals are able to improve their financial and professional situations. The quality of life was rated at 62 points, backed by high safety standards and modern infrastructure. The career development index was at 53 points, reflecting the availability of professional advancement opportunities despite the competitive market.
The report highlighted the crucial role of Dubai and Abu Dhabi, which have emerged as leading global centers for wealth, entrepreneurship, and talent attraction. This development has significantly enhanced the UAE’s appeal as a holistic destination for living and working.
On a global scale, Switzerland topped the list with 86 points, followed by Singapore with 81 points and Australia with 80 points. Both the United Kingdom and the United States shared the fourth position with 79 points each, followed by Canada at 78 points and Austria at 69 points. This ranking positions the UAE in direct competition with some of the world’s strongest economies in attracting talent and investment.
