UAE’s Holdings of US Bonds Reach 96.5 Billion Dollars

Decline in UAE Holdings of U.S. Treasury Securities

The United Arab Emirates reduced its holdings of U.S. Treasury securities to approximately $96.5 billion as of June 2025, marking a decrease of $7.1 billion compared to May 2025.

Investment Breakdown

In June, UAE’s investments in U.S. Treasury securities were divided as follows:

  • About $37.8 billion was allocated to long-term securities, representing over 39% of the total.
  • Approximately $58.7 billion was invested in short-term securities, accounting for around 61%.

This information comes from the monthly report issued by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.

Leading Holders

In June, Japan retained its position as the largest holder of U.S. Treasury securities, with approximately $1.147 trillion. The United Kingdom followed with holdings valued at $858.1 billion.

China ranked third with U.S. Treasury holdings of $756.4 billion, while the Cayman Islands and Canada held $442.7 billion and $438.5 billion, respectively.

Saudi Arabia’s Holdings

Saudi Arabia’s investments in U.S. Treasury securities rose to $130.6 billion in June, an increase of $2.9 billion from May, placing it 17th among the largest holders of these securities.

The breakdown of Saudi investments in U.S. Treasury securities for June included:

  • $103.5 billion in long-term securities, making up 79% of the total.
  • $27.1 billion in short-term securities, which constituted 21% of their holdings.
