The UAE Banks Federation has announced that Dubai has been chosen to host the “SWIFT Sibos 2029” conference and exhibition, an international banking operations event organized by SWIFT, a global financial messaging service. This decision underscores the international trust in the Emirates’ leadership role and its vital contributions to the advancement of the financial, banking, and payment sectors.

The event’s hosting comes at the invitation of the UAE Banks Federation, in collaboration with partners including the Dubai International Financial Centre, the Dubai World Trade Centre, and the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, along with support from the Central Bank of the UAE.

Abdulaziz Al Ghurair, Chairman of the UAE Banks Federation, remarked, “The selection of Dubai to host the Sibos 2029 conference and exhibition is a testament to the UAE’s prominent position as a regional and global financial and banking hub.”

This selection also highlights the global financial and banking industry’s recognition of the innovative efforts and initiatives undertaken by the UAE to enhance and simplify payment processes. It reflects the move towards digital transformation in payments to meet the needs of the banking and financial sectors, as well as the development of secure and efficient payment systems in line with the proactive policies of the Central Bank of the UAE, which prioritize the security and efficiency of banking transactions.

He added, “At the UAE Banks Federation, we reaffirm our commitment to collaborating with our partners at the Dubai International Financial Centre, the Dubai World Trade Centre, the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, and other strategic partners to create the necessary conditions for organizing this global event. This aligns with the UAE’s reputation as a leading destination for hosting major events and facilitating constructive discussions aimed at developing the payments system in line with the rapid advancements in advanced technological solutions and the global economy.”

The SWIFT organization has been organizing the Sibos conference and exhibition annually since 1978, held in various global financial centers selected from numerous major locations competing to host this event, which serves as a global platform for leaders of major financial institutions and technology providers.
