The United Arab Emirates has decided to lift the travel ban on its citizens wishing to visit Lebanon, a restriction established during a diplomatic conflict in 2021. This announcement was made following a meeting between Lebanese President Joseph Aoun and UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed in Abu Dhabi.
According to the joint declaration, both nations have agreed to implement necessary measures to simplify travel between them and to establish the appropriate procedures for facilitating movement.
In 2021, the UAE had enacted a travel prohibition for its citizens and recalled its diplomats from Beirut in response to remarks from a Lebanese minister who criticized Saudi Arabia’s military actions in Yemen. While Lebanese nationals faced no travel restrictions to the UAE, some encountered challenges in acquiring visas.
