UAE wins 21 medals at Asian Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championship

The UAE national team wrapped up the Asian Youth Jiu-Jitsu Championships over the weekend with 21 medals. The under-18 team won 11 medals on the final day, including two golds, three silvers and six bronzes, reported by ArabNews.

Obeid Al-Ketbi won gold in the 52kg weight category, while Salem Al-Qubaisi won gold in the 56kg category. Silver medals were won by Fatima Al-Kathiri (44kg), Gala Al-Hammadi (48kg) and Ahmed Al-Shamsi (48kg). Bronze medals went to Khaira Al-Daheri (40kg), Haneen Al-Khouri (57kg), Zainab Al-Mansouri (70kg), Aisha Al-Jneibi (63kg), Harib Al-Hammadi (62kg) and Zaid Al-Hosani (85kg).

Mubarak Al-Menkhali, Technical Director of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said: “In our preparations for the Asian Championships, we have paid great attention to the technical side and have constantly assessed the readiness of our athletes. “Their strong performance at the championships shows that our efforts have paid off. These results are the result of the support of the management, who have given our players everything they need to compete at the highest level.

“The federation’s continued support through training camps and preparatory tournaments has played a major role in boosting the players’ confidence and competitiveness. “We are proud of these achievements and look forward to achieving even greater heights in future competitions.”

Al-Ketbi said of his gold medal: “This moment means a lot to me as it symbolizes years of hard work and determination to achieve my dream. “Every fight was a reflection of my passion for Jiu-Jitsu and my desire to represent my country in the best possible way. Today’s gold medal is another step in my journey to the top of the world.”

The UAE U-16 team won 10 medals, including three gold, one silver and six bronze, on the opening day of the Asian Championships last week. Meanwhile, the UAE national team finished the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Cup 2025 (U-14) with 11 medals, including two gold, three silver and six bronze.
