The Abu Dhabi Customs Authority has issued a warning regarding fraudulent text messages circulated through SMS and iMessage that impersonate its organization or various shipping companies. The public and users are urged to refrain from engaging with these messages or clicking on any attached links, as they are deemed unreliable and may aim to obtain personal data or sensitive information.
The authority clarified that these deceptive texts may contain false claims about shipments or requests for data updates, often using numbers or terms that falsely suggest a connection to official entities. The objective is to trick recipients into divulging their information.
Abu Dhabi Customs emphasized the importance of not sharing personal information with unknown sources and advised relying on their official channels for services and information to avoid falling victim to cyber fraud.
Moreover, Abu Dhabi Customs reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of cybersecurity and safeguarding users’ data. In collaboration with relevant authorities, it is monitoring and addressing fraud attempts, while encouraging the public to report any suspicious messages that falsely represent the agency. This effort is part of a broader initiative to raise community awareness and reduce incidents of phishing.
