Abu Dhabi Resolves Disputes Through Global Mechanisms

The Abu Dhabi Center for Projects and Infrastructure announced yesterday the signing of an agreement with the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Center. This collaboration aims to implement world-class mechanisms for preventing and resolving commercial disputes within the infrastructure project ecosystem in Abu Dhabi.

This agreement reflects the commitment of both organizations to enhance commercial dispute management, solidifying Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a reliable global investment hub. It also strengthens the strategic partnership and cooperation between the public and private sectors while supporting the execution of long-term infrastructure projects in the emirate, adhering to the highest international standards.

Under this agreement, the Abu Dhabi International Arbitration Center will be officially responsible for appointing arbiters and dispute resolution boards for commercial disputes related to capital projects managed by the Abu Dhabi Center for Projects and Infrastructure. This ensures the highest levels of alignment in the application of dispute prevention and resolution practices, thereby enhancing the implementation of major infrastructure projects in the emirate according to global standards.

Dispute resolution boards consist of independent experts who are appointed prior to the commencement of infrastructure projects. Their role is to address commercial disputes before they escalate, maintaining full harmony between the companies responsible for executing these complex projects and the Abu Dhabi Center for Projects and Infrastructure. These boards, considered among the best global practices, contribute to improved governance and the reduction of project delays.
