Sharjah Airport has announced the resumption of direct flights to Damascus, the capital of Syria, operated by Air Arabia. This marks the return of regular services after several years, with two flights scheduled each day between Sharjah Airport and Damascus International Airport.
The inaugural flight’s launch was celebrated in a warm atmosphere, attended by prominent figures including H.E. Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah International Airport Authority, Dr. Ziad Yahiya Zahr al-Din, the Consul General of the Syrian Arab Republic in the UAE, and Adel Ali, CEO of Air Arabia Group, along with various officials and representatives from the airport and Sharjah’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
Al Midfa emphasized that the reinstatement of direct flights between Sharjah and Damascus is a significant step in the airport’s strategic expansion. It reflects the airport’s strong commitment to enhancing its air connectivity and facilitating travel for all types of passengers. He noted that this initiative aims to establish Sharjah Airport as a premier travel gateway and contribute to the growth of economic and tourism activities between the UAE and Syria.
This decision comes in response to the increasing demand for travel between the UAE and Syria, highlighting Sharjah Airport’s role in strengthening social and economic ties between the two nations.
