Amnesty International announced on Thursday that weapons manufactured in China and supplied by the United Arab Emirates have been traced to paramilitary forces in Sudan. This development comes as drone strikes have caused many civilians to evacuate from Port Sudan, a hub controlled by the army.
According to the UK-based organization, its investigations revealed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) utilized advanced Chinese artillery and precision-guided munitions in their ongoing conflict with the official army, which is now in its third year.
Despite assertions from Abu Dhabi that it has not supplied arms to the RSF, there have been numerous reports from UN experts, American officials, and global organizations suggesting otherwise.
Amnesty highlighted that its findings were based on the weaponry employed by the RSF during engagements in Darfur and throughout their efforts to seize control of Khartoum in March.
