Emirates Airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding with Crypto.com to explore the integration of Crypto.com Pay into the airline’s payment systems, while ensuring the highest standards of security and compliance. This integration is expected to be implemented next year.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airlines and Group, witnessed the signing of the memorandum, which was conducted by Adnan Kazim, Vice President and Chief Commercial Operations Officer of Emirates Airlines, and Mohammed Hakim, Head of Crypto.com Operations in the UAE, in the presence of Michael Dorsam, Head of Finance and Group Services at Emirates Group.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum stated, “Emirates Airlines, Dubai Duty-Free, and Crypto.com have signed this memorandum to facilitate digital payment solutions for travelers, marking a promising strategic step towards our shared vision of redefining the future of travel and trade.”
He added, “By adopting advanced digital payment solutions, we aim to enhance the traveler experience at all interaction points, from booking to shopping, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 to solidify the emirate’s status as a leading global hub for innovation and smart economy.”
Adnan Kazim remarked, “The partnership with Crypto.com reflects Emirates Airlines’ commitment to meeting the evolving needs and preferences of our customers, as well as attracting younger clientele interested in modern technologies who favor digital currencies. This strategic move is in line with Dubai’s vision to be at the forefront of financial innovation globally and offers our customers greater flexibility and options in their transactions with Emirates Airlines.”

In addition to exploring the integration of Crypto.com Pay into the airline’s payment systems, Emirates Airlines and Crypto.com will also look for ways to use promotional marketing campaigns to raise awareness and encourage adoption of the new payment solution.
This latest partnership aligns with Dubai’s aim to establish itself as a global center for cryptocurrency, supported by a robust ecosystem and sophisticated regulatory framework designed to foster innovation while ensuring investor protection and financial stability. Dubai Duty-Free has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the global cryptocurrency platform Crypto.com, focusing on the potential activation of digital currency payments and the development of joint collaborative initiatives, reflecting the market’s firm commitment to enhancing customer experience, fostering innovation, and providing premier services in the travel retail sector.
The memorandum paves the way for the acceptance of digital currency payments at Dubai Duty-Free, whether in-store or online, allowing travelers more flexible, diverse, and innovative payment options while opening new avenues for collaboration through strategic partnerships, joint marketing campaigns, and interactive customer programs that leverage the strengths of both parties.
The agreement was signed at Emirates Airlines headquarters in Dubai by Ramesh Cidam, Executive Vice President of Dubai Duty-Free, and Mohammed Hakim, Head of Crypto.com operations in the UAE, with the presence of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Dubai Duty-Free.

Both parties will subsequently conduct feasibility studies and create detailed plans to implement digital currency payment solutions and other agreed-upon initiatives outlined in the memorandum.
