Five Connected Islands to Accommodate 231,000 Residents in 49,000 Units
“Nakheel,” a subsidiary of “Dubai Holding,” has awarded a contract worth 527 million dirhams to “Al Nasr Contracting” for the development of infrastructure and essential facilities on Island “B” in the Dubai Islands project, which will expedite the execution of the emirate’s major coastal expansion initiative.
This infrastructure work will establish the necessary foundations for launching residential, hospitality, and mixed-use development projects on Island “B”.
The project encompasses the construction of roads and pavements, potable water systems, electricity and telecommunications networks, sewage systems, and integration with the central cooling plant, in addition to technical coordination with Island “A”.
The infrastructure efforts are designed to be flexible and ready to meet future demands, supporting long-term sustainable growth in line with the master plan.
The awarding of this contract marks a significant milestone in the construction plan for the Dubai Islands development, reinforcing continued investment in strategic long-term urban expansion in accordance with the Dubai Urban Plan 2040.
On this occasion, Khaled Malek, CEO of “Dubai Holding,” stated, “The awarding of this contract reflects the disciplined and well-planned execution of one of Dubai’s key coastal master plans. Providing infrastructure is essential for creating long-term value, and this achievement demonstrates steady progress in transforming the Dubai Islands into a comprehensive destination that supports population growth, tourism expansion, and economic diversification.”
The Dubai Islands cover an area of 18.6 square kilometers across five interconnected islands, adding nearly 57 kilometers of coastline to the emirate, which includes 21 kilometers of beaches.
The project is designed to accommodate over 231,000 residents living in 49,000 housing units, which include villas, luxury homes, and apartments, in addition to a range of resorts, marinas, shopping outlets, and recreational facilities.
Island “B” represents a crucial component of the overall master plan for the Dubai Islands, necessitating comprehensive enabling works to facilitate future vertical construction and integrated facility networks.
Jan Nicolas Al-Helo, CEO of “Al Nasr Contracting LLC,” expressed, “We are committed to delivering high-quality infrastructure for this project, contributing to Dubai’s ambitious growth agenda. Our collaboration with Nakheel will ensure that Island “B” receives robust engineering works and sustainable execution standards.”
The Dubai Islands will be directly connected to the mainland through three strategic bridges linked to the Shindagha corridor, making Dubai International Airport just 10 kilometers away and Downtown Dubai 15 kilometers away, enhancing urban access and connectivity throughout the emirate.
