Emirates Airlines has announced an expansion of its “Emirates Quick Cargo Services” to include Australia, just three months after the initial launch of such services. This move underscores the airline’s commitment to establishing new, high standards in rapid parcel delivery and cross-border shipments, connecting businesses and their clients with efficient, reliable, and flexible services.
These quick cargo services will be available in four major Australian cities: Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney, facilitated by 70 weekly flights operated by the airline to Australia. The current flight schedule between Australia and other regions offers unparalleled connectivity to key destinations in Europe and the Middle East, enabling “Emirates Quick Cargo Services” to provide swift door-to-door deliveries within days. This is made possible through collaboration with a local transportation partner that has a robust and integrated delivery network, covering the entire Australian territory from the onset.
Denis Lister, Senior Vice President of Product and Innovation at Emirates SkyCargo, stated, “Since the early stages of our pilot for the Emirates Quick Cargo Services, we were confident that Australia would be a vital market for this offering, benefitting both businesses and end consumers. The logistical challenges they faced were significant due to limited service availability. Our direct connectivity, high-frequency schedules, and scalable flexible solutions enable us to provide unprecedented services.”
He added, “Emirates takes pride in serving Australia for over 30 years, delivering the latest and best services to the market, whether in cargo operations or passenger transport. The launch of Emirates Quick Cargo Services represents a new milestone in this journey, and we aim to support local businesses and consumers with cross-border delivery solutions.”
It is worth noting that delivery and logistics challenges significantly hinder cross-border e-commerce activities. Despite growing consumer confidence in online retailers, only 6% of international shoppers purchase from Australia due to delivery and logistics issues. High and volatile costs, along with lengthy delivery times, deter customers from placing orders. Conversely, the volume of small parcels arriving in Australia has increased by 45% over the past two years, with the number of households engaging in online shopping reaching record highs.
Leveraging the extensive flight network of Emirates Airlines, alongside Emirates SkyCargo’s long-standing expertise and advanced infrastructure, the “Emirates Quick Cargo Services” aims to tackle these challenges and create new opportunities for Australian businesses to connect with global customers, while also allowing international companies to reach Australian shoppers.
By moving beyond traditional hub-and-spoke transportation models, “Emirates Quick Cargo Services” will offer direct connectivity through Dubai, significantly reducing transit times, minimizing shipment handling, and swiftly delivering goods to their destinations. The world-class infrastructure of Emirates allows for the efficient movement of various types of shipments, ranging from consumer goods to specialized handling products, such as pharmaceuticals and critical medical equipment.
Additionally, providing a comprehensive digital solution, “Emirates Quick Cargo Services” can be seamlessly integrated into existing customer programs, ensuring advanced tracking systems, real-time updates and smooth integration for its clients (and their customers), giving them full visibility over their shipment journeys worldwide.
