Flydubai has announced the launch of its Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Training Program, inviting Emirati high school graduates to apply starting September 2025.
Program Overview
This comprehensive four-year program is part of the national skills development initiative in the UAE. Managed by Flydubai’s Maintenance and Engineering Department, it is designed to equip young Emiratis with the technical skills and practical experience required to embark on a successful career in aviation. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to become engineers and technicians at Flydubai, certified by the General Civil Aviation Authority.
Career Pathways
Nasser bin Kharbash, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Flydubai, stated, “We are committed to investing in the development of Emirati talent and creating opportunities for the next generation to build long-lasting career pathways in aviation. With the CAR 147 certification from the General Civil Aviation Authority, we are able to offer training programs and issue internal maintenance and engineering certifications, contributing to the creation of a qualified national workforce that supports our ambitious growth plans.”
The training program is open to UAE nationals aged between 17 and 24 who meet the admission criteria. Participants will undergo rigorous theoretical and practical training at Flydubai’s facilities for up to four years.
Meeting the Requirements
Students who successfully complete the theoretical training and meet the necessary criteria will advance to the next stage as Aircraft Technical Trainees at Flydubai, gaining practical experience on operational aircraft with opportunities for career advancement. Upon completing the program, they will be eligible to apply for the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License (AMEL) from the General Civil Aviation Authority and secure positions as certified aircraft technicians within the company.
Bin Kharbash added, “The experience of our first cohort confirmed the importance of this initiative in bridging the gap between education and industry. With this new intake, we look forward to welcoming new trainees passionate about engineering and innovation, contributing to our ambitious plans at Flydubai and the growth of our fleet.”
Flydubai continues to invest in initiatives that support the professional development of Emirati citizens, including the new Multi-Pilot License (MPL) training program, a beginner pilot program, and a wide range of training and employment opportunities. These initiatives will enhance the company’s strategic plans and create promising career pathways for skilled local talent.
Applications for the new cohort of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Training Program will open in September 2025.
