Mubadala Capital Completes Acquisition of CL Financial

Mubadala Capital and CI Financial Corp have announced the successful completion of their previously disclosed acquisition of CI, a North American asset and wealth management firm, effective from August 12, 2025.

Transaction Details

This agreement, valued at CAD 12.1 billion, represents a significant milestone in Mubadala Capital’s growth ambitions, accelerating its expansion in private wealth management and solidifying its position in a rapidly evolving sector.

The transaction was executed under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario) and includes Mubadala Capital acquiring all outstanding common shares of CI at a price of CAD 32 per share, excluding convertible shares. The equity value of CI was estimated at approximately CAD 4.7 billion, indicating a total enterprise value of around CAD 12.1 billion.

Asset Management Platform

With the deal’s completion, Mubadala Capital now manages and provides advisory services for combined assets exceeding USD 430 billion for its clients and limited partners through its asset managers and strategic partners, including CI and its subsidiaries.

This substantial scale underscores Mubadala Capital’s vision of creating a leading asset management platform that integrates high-quality institutional alternative investments across multiple asset classes and geographies, which include private equity, credit, and special opportunities, with a particular focus on Brazil and other alternative investments, alongside comprehensive wealth management services.
