Ras Al Khaimah Economic Department Addresses 347 Complaints in the First Quarter

The Economic Development Department of Ras Al Khaimah continues to reinforce its consumer protection framework and improve market oversight. In the first quarter of this year, the Commercial Protection Division successfully addressed 347 complaints, demonstrating the effectiveness of its regulatory actions and quick responsiveness to consumer feedback.

According to Faisal Abdullah Alyoun, Director of the Commercial Protection Division, the complaints were distributed across various critical service sectors, including automobile repair shops, interior decoration, and metalworking and aluminum workshops, among others. The department handled these reports in accordance with established legal frameworks and procedures to ensure fairness and safeguard the rights of all parties involved. Corrective measures were implemented against non-compliant businesses, aiming to enhance commercial performance and ensure adherence to regulations.

Alyoun emphasized that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy aimed at bolstering consumer trust and improving the local market’s efficiency. This is achieved through increased regulatory campaigns and direct communication channels with the public, thus enhancing service quality and creating a better business environment in the emirate while upholding principles of transparency and integrity in commercial dealings.

He also stressed the importance of consumer awareness in protecting rights, urging consumers to obtain official receipts detailing transactions and to ensure written agreements with service providers. This practice helps reduce disputes and fosters trust in commercial interactions.

Furthermore, Alyoun noted that the department is committed to enhancing complaint reception channels and making them more accessible to the public, alongside conducting awareness campaigns that aim to improve consumer rights knowledge. These efforts form part of a comprehensive vision to create a more organized and sustainable market that enhances Ras Al Khaimah’s competitiveness as an attractive investment and business environment based on fairness and rights protection.
