The Department of Economic Development in Sharjah has launched an initiative called “Instant License,” allowing investors and entrepreneurs to obtain business licenses immediately, without needing to provide a founding contract or rental agreement for the first year. This initiative aims to promote investment and attract investors.
The introduction of the “Instant License” is intended to enable investors to commence their activities without delay, thereby expediting and simplifying procedures, reducing the customer journey, and enhancing economic growth in the emirate.
The department will process applications for the “Instant License” within one working day, improving the investment climate in Sharjah and reducing the occurrence of unlicensed business activities. This service covers all office-related activities that do not require approvals from other entities, allowing for up to three employees under the license. It is a simplified licensing option that eliminates the typical requirements associated with standard licenses, aiming to support investors in their initial year while fulfilling the standard licensing conditions in the second year.
The “Instant License” targets new investors and businesses looking to expand into specific sectors, enhancing Sharjah’s competitiveness. The Department of Economic Development in Sharjah aims to enable companies to fully capitalize on the competitive advantages the emirate offers and to foster a conducive business environment. As the government authority responsible for organizing economic activities in the emirate, it is focused on promoting economic diversification, sustainable growth, and competitiveness, facilitating business operations, and ultimately shaping a brighter future by enhancing the investment landscape and improving the quality of services provided according to global standards.
Hamad Al Mahmoud, head of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, stated that thanks to the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, along with the follow-up of His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, the department has worked to develop a legislative and regulatory environment that bolsters business growth, sustainability, and continuity, aligning with global best practices, which in turn boosts the economy of Sharjah and its regional and global competitiveness.
He remarked, “The ‘Instant License’ service is part of Sharjah’s Economic Development strategy aimed at fostering economic diversification and sustainable growth in the emirate, supporting investors with streamlined and swift business establishment processes, thereby reflecting Sharjah’s commitment to continuously develop its business ecosystem and solidify its position as a global investment hub.”
