The Planning and Development Department – “Licenses” at the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Authority conducted approximately 25,000 field inspections of buildings and constructions during the first half of 2025. This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to enhance regulatory oversight, expedite procedures, and support sustainable urban growth within their jurisdictions through effective management of building codes and permits.

According to Abdullah Al-Houl, CEO of the Planning and Development Department – Licenses, “We continue our commitment at Licenses to establish digital transformation as a fundamental aspect of our operations. The implementation of the ‘Inspection’ app has facilitated over 13,000 inspections, thereby improving transparency and accelerating the issuance of certificates. The increase in supervisory visits and professional training reflects our dedication to ensuring compliance with engineering standards and enhancing the skills of the workforce in the sector.”

In the first half of the year, the Building and Construction Inspection Section played a key role in ensuring adherence to engineering standards and safety measures at construction sites within the areas overseen by “Licenses.” The department conducted 4,919 community oversight visits, 6,965 field inspections of ongoing construction sites, as well as 13,058 inspections through the “Inspection” app to facilitate certificate issuance and guarantee digital transparency.
