The UAE Participates in the Preparatory Meeting for the BRICS Summit

His Excellency Saeed Mubarak Al Hajri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs and Sherpa of the UAE for the BRICS group, attended the third meeting of Sherpas and Deputy Sherpas of BRICS, held from June 30 to July 4, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

This meeting was part of the preparations for the upcoming 17th BRICS Summit, which is scheduled for July 6-7, 2025, in Rio de Janeiro.

During the meeting, participants discussed drafting the leaders’ statement and enhancing discussions on key outcomes under Brazil’s presidency.

In this context, Al Hajri expressed his appreciation for Brazil’s distinguished leadership and reaffirmed the UAE’s constructive role in shaping outcomes that reflect the priorities of all BRICS member states.

He also reiterated the country’s commitment to economic cooperation and inclusive multilateralism, which are fundamental pillars of collaboration within the group.

Additionally, the UAE welcomed the adoption of three documents regarding global governance of artificial intelligence, funding for climate action, and partnerships aimed at tackling health issues linked to social factors.

It is noteworthy that the UAE became a full member of BRICS in January 2024, aligning with its broader vision to enhance international cooperation, promote sustainable development, and actively engage with emerging economies.

BRICS serves as an important platform for the UAE to facilitate dialogue and coordinate policies across various regions.
