Sheikha Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi, the chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), visited the luxurious eco-friendly hospitality project “Rahhal” in Kalba yesterday, prior to its official opening today and the commencement of guest receptions.
She was briefed on the project’s development strategy, its sustainability framework, operational readiness, and the overall guest experience aimed at aligning “Rahhal” with Sharjah’s vision for responsible eco-tourism.
Sheikha Bodour examined how the project aligns with the principles of “slow travel” and mindful exploration, which are central to “Rahhal’s” concept as an alternative to conventional hospitality, encouraging guests to connect with the natural landscape and providing a tranquil space to immerse in the environment at their own pace.
The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) is overseeing the development, management, and operation of “Rahhal” within the framework of the Sharjah Hospitality Group.
“Rahhal” offers an interactive hospitality experience focused on nature, privacy, and tranquility, situated in the mountainous scenery of Kalba. The project features 20 luxurious cabins, boasting a location with impressive natural views.
Natural materials define the architectural language of the project, which employs a hybrid energy system combining solar energy with high-quality natural materials. This approach promotes visitor interaction with nature and encourages reduced reliance on digital communications during their stay.
The project is equipped with well-planned outdoor infrastructure, including 7.44 kilometers of mountain walking trails, featuring a public trail measuring 5 kilometers and another 2.44 kilometers leading to the peaks of Kalba’s mountains. Additionally, Shurooq has developed dedicated mountain biking trails spanning 4.39 kilometers to ensure safe and harmonious movement among various outdoor activities.
Through the Sharjah Hospitality Group, Shurooq continues to build a portfolio of authentic destinations that showcase Sharjah’s ecological diversity, prioritizing quality over quantity. Each destination is designed to complement the emirate’s offerings and support a responsible, flexible, and future-ready tourism ecosystem, creating long-term value for the emirate while enhancing its global standing and providing experiences that celebrate Emirati identity.
In addition to “Rahhal,” the Sharjah Hospitality Group manages six sustainable lodges that honor the natural beauty and cultural heritage of Sharjah. “Al Badayer Oasis” offers a lodging experience inspired by the desert oasis lifestyle in the Al Badayer desert, located in the central region of Sharjah.
