Drake & Scull International has announced that its subsidiary, Passavant Energy and Environment GmbH, a German company specializing in sustainable water and energy engineering, has secured a contract valued at €17 million (approximately AED 73 million) for the rehabilitation of a wastewater treatment plant in Tanta, Egypt.
According to a statement from the company, Passavant will be responsible for the design, engineering, supply, installation, testing, and operation of the electromechanical systems and piping within the main structures of the facility, as well as operating the plant for two years.
The initiative aims to achieve a processing capacity of 100,000 cubic meters per day, with the new facility being constructed adjacent to the existing plant, which has a capacity of 60,000 cubic meters per day.
The scope of the project includes the design and implementation of mechanical and electrical treatment systems for both water and sludge treatment lines, with a focus on attaining high operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impact.
The project is set to be executed over a period of 27 months, followed by a 24-month operation and maintenance phase, and it is expected to enhance water treatment capabilities in the region, thereby improving water resource quality and public health.
This new contract is expected to strengthen the company’s position in the water and environmental infrastructure sector, a key area where it continues to undertake complex, high-impact infrastructure projects across the Middle East and North Africa.
