Engineer Ahmed Al-Kaabi, the Assistant Undersecretary for Electricity, Water, and Future Energy at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, stated during his participation in the Sustainable Development Goals Forum at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2026 that the period from 2030 to 2045 necessitates a qualitative shift from making commitments to establishing comprehensive implementation systems that prioritize flexibility, scalability, and the enhancement of cross-border partnerships.
Al-Kaabi elaborated that the UAE’s experience demonstrates that accelerating implementation relies on the integration of policies across energy, water, and infrastructure sectors, embracing innovation and advanced technologies, and expanding partnerships with the private sector. This approach ensures the sustainability of economic, environmental, and social impacts.
He noted that international platforms, especially the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, serve as practical tools for translating global dialogue from ambition to execution, shifting focus from short-term goals to systems capable of addressing future demands up to 2045.
Furthermore, he highlighted national progress indicators in the clean energy sector, pointing to the accelerated growth in renewable energy capacity, increased investments in this vital sector, and an elevated target for electricity production from clean sources. He also mentioned the integration of the National Hydrogen Strategy 2050 within the broader energy planning framework, which enhances energy security and supports the path towards climate neutrality.
He emphasized the impact of the National Program for Energy and Water Demand Management in reducing emissions and achieving substantial economic savings, asserting that consumption efficiency is a fundamental pillar for long-term sustainability and enhancing quality of life.
Moreover, he pointed out the UAE’s leadership in the Global Energy Efficiency Coalition, which aims to accelerate the global pace of energy efficiency improvements through knowledge sharing and the development of innovative solutions, thus reinforcing the country’s position as a reliable international partner and a practical source of actionable solutions.
