The Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates has launched commemorative coins made of gold and silver in celebration of the “Zayed and Rashid” campaign. This initiative honors the memory of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, emphasizing their vital roles in the establishment of the UAE and fostering national identity and loyalty among its citizens.
The face of the gold coin, weighing 40 grams with a diameter of 40 mm, features depictions of the two leaders, “Zayed and Rashid.” The reverse side showcases the country’s emblem surrounded by the name “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” in both Arabic and English. This gold coin will be exclusively available at the Central Bank’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi.
On the other hand, the silver coin weighs 50 grams and has a diameter of 50 mm. The front side also features images of “Zayed and Rashid,” while the reverse contains the country’s emblem along with the name “Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates” in Arabic and English, as well as the phrase “Commemorative Coin.” The silver commemorative coin will be available for order through the Central Bank’s website.
In commenting on the release of the “Zayed and Rashid” commemorative coin, His Excellency Khaled Mohamed Balama, the Governor of the Central Bank, stated: “We proudly announce the issuance of this commemorative coin, which embodies the values of loyalty and attachment to the national legacy left by the founding leaders, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. This release coincides with the ‘Zayed and Rashid’ campaign, reinforcing the principles of unity and development that laid the foundation of our nation and highlighting inspiring milestones from their journeys. We reaffirm our steadfast commitment to preserving our national history and enhancing it in the hearts of future generations.”
