Emirates Airlines Launches New Pilot Training Center with a $135 Million Investment

Emirates Airlines has unveiled its new, state-of-the-art pilot training center, aligning with the airline’s strategy for expansion and growth. This facility will provide training for both current and future pilots operating the airline’s increasing fleet of Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X aircraft.

The center spans 63,318 square feet and is equipped with six full-flight simulators. It is strategically located near other Emirates training facilities in Dubai, establishing a cohesive work environment that supports the professional and personal development of its staff.

Central Role

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, remarked, “The new pilot training center plays a crucial role in the aviation industry and bolsters Dubai’s ambitions as a global aviation hub.”

He added, “This center represents a significant advancement in flight training and ranks among the most sophisticated in the world. Training programs have been specifically designed for our future fleet, and we are pleased to note that pilots and instructors have expressed their complete satisfaction with the quality of the training provided, reinforcing the value of our investment of 500 million dirhams.”

Interactive Environment

Emirates pilots will have a unique opportunity to benefit from the new center, which is equipped with an innovative “Pilot Support Station,” the first of its kind in the industry, developed entirely in-house to enhance the training experience. Before commencing training sessions, pilots can set up the cockpit and develop a flight plan within a fully interactive environment using dedicated equipment. This reduces preparation time and allows them to concentrate fully during training. All sessions are recorded, enabling instructors to replay any segment for performance review and improved learning.

The center also features advanced 3D printing capabilities, allowing for the production of complex parts and structures to support training equipment, resulting in savings of up to one million dirhams per year.

Training commenced with two full-flight simulators for the A350, with plans to integrate four additional simulators over the next two years, including those for the Boeing 777X.

Training Capacity

Each simulator is capable of delivering 7,500 training hours for approximately 1,000 pilots annually. Once all six locations are operational, pilots will have access to 17 training simulators, including 11 for the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777. Overall, with these training facilities, Emirates’ training capacity will increase by 54%, providing 130,000 training hours each year.

The first full-flight simulator for the Airbus A350 received Level D certification from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, the highest rating for such simulators. It was the first globally to enter service according to Airbus A350 Standard 1.3, achieving accreditation without any remarks, a notable accomplishment.

Comprehensive Programs

Emirates pilots undergo comprehensive training programs based on competency and scientific evidence, guided by highly experienced professional instructors. The new center includes four dedicated training rooms for renewal, conversion, and leadership training courses for pilots.

Emirates offers its employees and aviation professionals a range of world-class training and development programs at its facilities in Dubai, including the Emirates Pilot Training Academy, Emirates Aviation University, and the Emirates Cabin Crew Training Center, along with many specialized programs catering to different employee sectors and the broader pilot community.

Emirates continues its ambitious growth trajectory and is actively seeking pilots to join its three programs: direct hiring for captains, an accelerated leadership program, and the non-type-rated first officers. The airline invites those interested in joining the world’s largest and most profitable international airline, which boasts the largest fleet of A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
