Sharjah Economic Department Hosts Seminar Titled “Pulse of Entrepreneurship and Innovation”

The Sharjah Economic Development Department hosted a seminar titled “Sharjah… The Pulse of Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” bringing together a variety of experts and stakeholders from both public and private sectors to discuss the emirate’s role in promoting creativity, innovation, and economic diversification.

The event commenced with a welcoming address by Noura bin Sandal, Deputy Director of the Planning and Economic Studies Department, who praised Sharjah’s robust vision for nurturing a competitive and innovative investment environment and facilitating pathways for innovation.

She emphasized that the emirate not only adopts supportive policies but has also developed a comprehensive ecosystem consisting of incentives, advanced infrastructure, and the spirit of youth and ambition.

The discussions at the seminar covered several key topics, including the role of innovation in creating incubator spaces for startups, local and global entrepreneurship, challenges faced by entrepreneurs, the impact of technology on accelerating innovation, the influence of artificial intelligence, the shift towards digital services, as well as government support, initiatives, policies, and regulations, highlighting the importance of collaboration between public and private sectors.

The Sharjah Economic Development Department presented its achievements and those of the emirate in the economic and investment sectors over the past three years (2021 – 2024), outlining its role in supporting decision-makers and guiding economic policies. Furthermore, the department showcased its innovative proactive services.

Accompanying the seminar was a workshop for university students, featuring an interactive session aimed at discussing ideas and formulating practical recommendations to bolster entrepreneurship and innovation in Sharjah. This included an overview of significant initiatives to attract commercial investment, such as the “Beyrak License” and “E-commerce License,” along with an outline of the facilities available to entrepreneurs and innovators.
