The General Women’s Union announced today the launch of the world’s first official job specifically designed for productive families, offering a fixed monthly salary and comprehensive job benefits. This initiative represents a pioneering step that aligns with the “Umm Al Emarat 50:50” vision, which aims to enhance women’s roles and empower them socially and economically by the year 2075.
This announcement was made during the opening of the second edition of the “Creative Path for Employment and Training” exhibition held in Al Ain.
The initiative embodies the practical implementation of the “50:50” vision initiated by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, the president of the General Women’s Union and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, aimed at increasing the participation of Emirati women in various fields of development.
Under this unique initiative, the General Women’s Union grants productive families the status of “official employees,” along with a monthly salary and a percentage of the net profits from the sale of products submitted to the Union’s Heritage and Handicraft Industries Center.
Additionally, participants will be registered in the Abu Dhabi Pension Fund, ensuring a safety net and a more stable future.
Participants in the program are required to produce and deliver a specific number of products weekly according to agreed standards, without needing to adhere to daily working hours or being present at work locations. This structure offers complete flexibility that accommodates the nature of family and creative work.
Noura Al Suwaidi, the Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, emphasized that unveiling the first official job for productive families reflects Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s deep trust in the capabilities of Emirati women and embodies her ongoing guidance to empower them economically and socially.
She added that this initiative is not just about providing a stable income for families, but it also opens up new avenues for their impactful contributions to the national economy in a sustainable and institutional manner.
Engineer Ghaliya Ali Al Manaei, head of strategic and developmental affairs at the General Women’s Union, noted that the new employment mechanism allows productive families to work flexibly from home while ensuring complete professional and legal rights, including registration in the pension fund. Providing them with a share of the revenues boosts motivation and enhances production quality, thereby supporting the sustainability and competitiveness of handicrafts in the market.
The launch of the world’s first official job for productive families signifies a qualitative leap in supporting home-based and creative economies, integrating productive families into the national economic cycle in a structured and sustainable manner under a comprehensive social protection framework and long-term strategic vision.
The “Creative Path for Employment and Training” exhibition serves as a leading national platform to foster national creativity and enhance sustainable employment opportunities, aligning with the UAE’s strategic goals to empower women and activate their roles in the creative economy.
The exhibition also highlighted the new opportunities provided by the “Creative Path for Employment and Training” program, which aims to support citizens seeking jobs in cultural and creative fields through employment or training in the private sector as per the agreement with the Emirati Competitiveness Council “Nafes.”
