Emirates SkyCargo has announced the launch of a new weekly cargo flight to Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok, marking a significant step in expanding its extensive network across East and Southeast Asia. This new addition is part of the airline’s initiative to strengthen its presence in one of the world’s most active trade regions, providing customers in the area with greater flexibility for transporting their goods globally through Dubai.
As the cargo division of the world’s largest international airline, Emirates SkyCargo operates dedicated services to 43 global destinations within its network, including 11 locations in East and Southeast Asia.
With Thailand’s long-term economic vision “Thailand 4.0,” focusing on innovation and the shift towards advanced industries, the country continues to establish its position as a global leader in high-tech sectors such as advanced automotive manufacturing, smart electronics, medical equipment, biotechnology, and robotics.
Leveraging its specialized cargo solutions, an entirely wide-body fleet, and a comprehensive global network, Emirates SkyCargo is well-equipped to support the export of sensitive tech products from Thailand, in addition to textiles, fruits, and other goods.
Rising Demand
Badr Abbas, Emirates’ Senior Vice President of Cargo, stated: “Our operations in East and Southeast Asia are among the most extensive in our global network in terms of the number of flights, cargo aircraft, and available capacity. However, demand continues to grow, making this region a cornerstone for our expansion plans through 2026 and beyond.”
He added: “Markets such as Thailand and Vietnam have become the new engines of global trade due to their advanced manufacturing capabilities, burgeoning digital economies, and world-class logistics infrastructure. We are committed to supporting this growth by providing fast, reliable, and efficient cargo services that connect the region to the world.”
In response to the rising demand for cargo services, Emirates SkyCargo has increased its flights to and from Hanoi to four weekly services, with three of these flights operating directly to Dubai’s Al Maktoum International Airport. The fourth flight connects Dubai with Taipei and Hanoi, ensuring seamless connectivity for the airline’s customers in Vietnam.
Peak Seasons
The airline has also launched a sixth weekly freight flight to Guangzhou, China, to meet strong demand for the transport of consumer tech products, electronic devices, and e-commerce shipments from mainland China. To ensure operational capacity stability during peak periods and busy seasons, Emirates SkyCargo continues to operate additional flexible cargo flights across the region as needed.
Over the past three decades, Emirates SkyCargo has strategically expanded its operations in East and Southeast Asia, currently serving 25 destinations with 45 scheduled freight flights, 13 chartered flights, and 315 passenger flights weekly, providing an overall cargo capacity of 21,000 tons.
