Dnata Announces Investment for Advanced Cargo Facility in Milan
Dnata has revealed a substantial investment exceeding 25 million euros aimed at developing a state-of-the-art cargo facility at Milan Malpensa Airport through its fully-owned local subsidiary, Airport Handling.
This strategic initiative underscores Dnata’s commitment to establishing high-efficiency infrastructure for cargo services in markets with significant long-term growth potential.
The expansion of Airport Handling follows a competitive bidding process initiated by SEA Group, the operator of Linate and Malpensa airports. This project is anticipated to create around 200 new jobs, further solidifying the company’s position as a leading ground handling services provider in Italy.
The new facility will be situated in the Cargo City area of the airport, covering an area of 10,000 square meters with an annual handling capacity exceeding 100,000 tons. It will be designed to meet the highest international standards to accommodate all types of shipments, including perishable goods.
In alignment with Dnata’s global sustainability strategy, the new facility will feature a variety of energy-efficient solutions, including solar panels for renewable energy generation, advanced thermal insulation, and high-efficiency LED lighting. The design will incorporate warehouse and office spaces that optimize natural light usage, along with low-consumption heating and cooling systems. The facility is expected to begin operations in September 2027.
