Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority has announced the fifth edition of the Highlander Mountain Challenge, scheduled to take place from February 6 to 8, 2026, on Jebel Jais, the highest mountain in the UAE. This event ranks among the premier hiking and adventure activities in the Middle East.
The 2026 edition is organized by Highlander Adventure, the largest international hiking association, with support from the authority.
Participants will put their abilities to the test across a trail network spanning 94 kilometers in the Hajar Mountains, offering a unique experience that combines physical challenge with exploration of nature and local heritage. Philippa Harrison, the CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority, remarked:
“Hosting the Highlander Challenge for the fifth consecutive year underscores our commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles and encouraging travel experiences that foster direct interaction with nature. This event aligns with our vision to enhance community involvement and solidify Ras Al Khaimah’s position as a key destination for adventure and outdoor activities.”
Fadi Hashisho, managing director of Highlander UAE and founder of Adventureati Outdoor, noted that last year’s event welcomed over 250 participants from 35 countries, boosting Ras Al Khaimah’s international presence, while emphasizing a continuing focus on local heritage and the development of camping programs.
