The Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation has achieved a significant milestone on the global stage by securing two prestigious gold Stevie Awards in the areas of sustainability and leadership. This recognition highlights the success of Dubai’s inaugural liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering project for ships, alongside the accolade of one of its national team members as the rising leader of the year, showcasing the synergy of organizational and individual excellence within the corporation.
The LNG bunkering project was awarded a gold Stevie Award in the category of Best Sustainable Service in the Middle East and Africa, marking a pivotal advancement in the maritime sector’s sustainable transformation.
This initiative represents the first comprehensive service of its kind in Dubai, providing LNG as a low-emission alternative fuel which contributes to reducing carbon footprints, enhancing operational efficiency, and supporting both national and global objectives for clean energy and sustainability.
According to Nasser Al Neyadi, the Chief Executive Officer of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, the project’s Stevie Award win illustrates the corporation’s strategic commitment to developing innovative and sustainable maritime solutions that facilitate the transition to clean energy and bolster Dubai’s status as a leading global maritime hub.
He further stated, “This project serves as a practical example of translating national sustainability visions into impactful initiatives that have long-term environmental and economic benefits. It also highlights the pioneering role of the Dubai Maritime Authority, one of our corporation’s entities, in spearheading high-impact maritime initiatives based on global best practices.”
In an outstanding individual accomplishment, Noura Abdullah Al Shamsi, the Director of Strategy and Corporate Governance at the Support Services of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, received the gold Stevie Award in the category of Rising Leader of the Year. This award recognizes her exemplary leadership skills and significant contributions to enhancing the corporation’s performance, as well as honoring her strategic vision.
Her ability to translate ideas into tangible results and her role in fostering innovation and empowering teams were also acknowledged.
