Participants at the recent annual Retail Trade Conference 2025, organized by the Indian Business and Professional Council in Dubai, highlighted the crucial role of artificial intelligence in decision-making within the UAE’s retail sector, valued at AED 300 billion.
The event brought together prominent leaders from the retail industry, technology strategy experts, and policy makers, focusing on how changing consumer behaviors, investments in AI infrastructure, and data-driven decision frameworks are reshaping the retail economy, productivity, and stakeholder engagement across the region.
Dr. Sahitya Chaturvedi, Secretary General of the Indian Business and Professional Council, stated that consumer behavior is evolving faster than business models, driven by increasing expectations for speed, personalization, and reliability. He warned that retailers who fail to adapt their decision-making processes based on timely data risk stagnation.
The conference underscored the rapid expansion of AI-driven computing infrastructure in the UAE, citing substantial regional investments in high-performance graphics processing units and AI data centers, which are transforming abstract strategies into operational capabilities.
It was explained that the adoption of AI in both retail and institutional sectors progresses through various phases, starting with basic AI models, advancing to agent-based systems, and culminating in context-aware generative platforms. In this regard, traditional business systems such as ERP and CRM are being reimagined into integrated data and code systems, where real-time insights and accelerated reasoning redefine value creation and operational agility.
Speakers emphasized the necessity of aligning AI deployment with business outcomes to ensure tangible improvements in customer experience, operational efficiency, and cost optimization, rather than merely pursuing experimental initiatives.
As the UAE retail sector accelerates towards an AI-driven future, the conference conveyed a clear message: sustainable competitive advantage will belong to organizations that can effectively understand context, leverage data, and enable smart decision-making on a broader scale.
