Dubai International Arbitration Center Achieves Status as “Permanent Arbitration Institution” in Russia

The Dubai International Arbitration Centre has achieved the status of “Permanent Arbitration Institution” in Russia, marking a significant milestone that enhances its international presence and affirms its role as a trustworthy global entity for dispute resolution. This designation is granted following a structured process that requires adherence to specific criteria, including demonstrating the international reputation of the arbitration institution, in accordance with the requirements set forth by the Russian Ministry of Justice.

Jihad Kazem, the Executive Director of the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, stated: “The centre has become the first arbitration institution from the UAE and the region to receive this official designation. This achievement is a significant marker of the trust placed in our centre on an international scale and supports our endeavor towards further institutional development.”

The Dubai International Arbitration Centre handles disputes across a wide range of sectors, including construction and real estate, energy, retail and consumer goods, transportation and logistics, manufacturing, and the banking and financial sector.

In 2024, the centre recorded 295 new cases, with a total dispute value of $2.65 billion, involving parties from 53 different nationalities. In its continuous effort to enhance accessibility, the centre has broadened the availability of its arbitration rules by translating them into five additional languages, including Russian.

The granting of the “Permanent Arbitration Institution” status reflects the high standards maintained by the Dubai International Arbitration Centre’s framework, including its procedural norms and governance structure, aligning with its long-term strategy aimed at facilitating cross-border dispute resolution and expanding access to its services in key international markets.
