The Dubai Municipality has signed a cooperation agreement with the Engineers Association to enhance the engineering workforce in Dubai, aligning it with international standards. The collaboration aims to improve the assessment, classification, licensing, and qualification mechanisms for engineers to elevate their professional skills. This initiative also supports Dubai’s ambition to host major engineering and architectural events, reinforcing its status as a global hub for knowledge and innovation.
This agreement is set to strengthen the partnership between the two entities by implementing assessments for engineers seeking professional licenses in Dubai. These evaluations will be conducted at the Engineers Association’s facilities using well-equipped venues, facilitating the execution of internationally recognized professional exams, in line with established standards. Furthermore, the collaboration will focus on improving the engineering classification system, connecting it with the results of technical and professional assessments.
According to the memorandum, both parties will work together in organizing and supporting international engineering and architectural conferences, as well as launching joint training programs for engineers across various disciplines. Engineer Marwan Ahmad bin Ghaletah, General Director of Dubai Municipality, stated that the partnership with the Engineers Association is complementary, sharing common goals and visions aimed at enhancing engineering practices and advancing them to international levels, starting from Dubai. He emphasized the importance of improving the assessment and classification processes for engineers to foster skill development and encourage innovation and applied research in construction and sustainability.
Additionally, he noted that this integrated effort would solidify Dubai’s position as a leading global center in construction, urban planning, and sustainability, utilizing the best talents and expertise, along with advanced urban technologies to enhance the quality of life for individuals and communities. Engineer Abdullah Yusuf Al Ali, Chairman of the Engineers Association in the country, remarked that this partnership with Dubai Municipality is a strategic move to strengthen the engineering framework and develop evaluation and classification standards according to best international practices, aiming to empower engineers to enhance their professional skills and experiences.
