The Sharjah International Airport Authority has announced remarkable achievements for the year 2025, welcoming 19.48 million passengers, an increase from 17.1 million in 2024. This represents a growth rate of 13.9%, continuing the upward trajectory in passenger, flight, and air cargo traffic, thereby solidifying Sharjah’s status as a central hub for air transport and logistics services.
The total number of flights operated through the airport rose to 116,657 in 2025, up from 107,760 in 2024, marking an 8.3% increase. This trend underscores the pivotal role of Sharjah Airport in enhancing air connectivity both regionally and internationally, reflecting an annual momentum driven by the expansion of destination networks, rising tourist demand, and enhanced operational capacity.
Air cargo operations at Sharjah Airport also experienced growth in 2025, with a total cargo handling volume of 204,323 tons, compared to 195,909 tons in 2024. This demonstrates a positive trend in the performance of this critical sector.
Marine cargo services through Sharjah Airport have seen growth over the last three years, with handling volumes of 12,566 tons in 2023, 14,035 tons in 2024, and rising to 16,770 tons in 2025. This reflects an increasing demand for this logistics route and its role in supporting trade flow and integrating supply chains.
Ali Salem Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah International Airport Authority, noted that the results achieved in 2025 reflect the success of the airport’s long-term strategy and its ongoing commitment to operational excellence. This is illustrated by the continued rise in passenger numbers and air cargo, aligned with its goals of increasing capacity and enhancing service quality to support the economic and tourism ambitions of Sharjah. He emphasized that ongoing investment in infrastructure, digital systems, and sustainability initiatives is fundamental to the airport’s growth, in addition to expanding partnerships with airlines and logistics service providers.

Sheikh Faisal bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah International Airport Authority, stated that the results of 2025 highlight the advanced role the airport plays in supporting travel and business, reinforcing Sharjah’s position as a central destination on the regional and global market map. He pointed out that this growth is based on a comprehensive system that includes advanced infrastructure, effective operational governance, and a supportive regulatory environment. This enables Sharjah Airport to efficiently meet the increasing traffic demands while maintaining high levels of service quality and reliability.
In 2025, Sharjah Airport continued to expand its flight network by adding direct routes to prominent capitals and cities worldwide. New destinations include Ahvaz, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas in Iran. The year also saw the introduction of four new international airlines operating through Sharjah Airport: Salalah Airlines from Oman, Caspian Airlines from Iran, Fly Sham from Syria, and Ethiopian Airlines, further enhancing passenger connectivity to over 100 global destinations and supporting the airport’s expanding air link network.
