To enhance international collaboration and sustainable progress, the UAE has designated Badr Jafar as its Special Envoy for Business and Philanthropy.
The announcement was made by Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, as part of the nation’s initiative to solidify connections among government, business, and philanthropic sectors.
Jafar’s new responsibilities are geared towards bolstering the UAE’s relationships with global business and philanthropic networks, underscoring its dedication to innovation, investment, and societal advancement.
Upon receiving his new appointment, Jafar expressed his gratitude and highlighted the urgency of united and courageous efforts to confront global issues.
This role fits seamlessly within the UAE’s strategic frameworks, including ‘We the UAE 2031’ and ‘Centennial 2071’, as the country strives to establish itself as a major player in sustainable finance and economic diplomacy globally.
In the first nine months of 2024, the UAE’s non-oil industries experienced a growth of 4.5 percent, contributing to nearly 75 percent of the nation’s real GDP — indicative of its robust private sector and diversified economic landscape.
Furthermore, the UAE has achieved a top-10 position in the World Giving Index for 2024, highlighting its influence in both the economic sphere and philanthropic initiatives.
Key goals of the Special Envoy include:
• CONNECTING: Facilitating interaction and coordination between the private sector and government bodies in the UAE, as well as with global private sectors.
