The Ministry of Economy and Tourism, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Tunisia, organized the “UAE-Tunisia Forum on Agriculture and Food,” alongside the “International Food Industry Exhibition – Africa.” The forum aims to strengthen economic ties between the UAE and Tunisia in food sectors, supply chains, and technologies related to value-added food systems.
The event was attended by His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism; Dr. Iman Ahmed Al Salami, UAE Ambassador to Tunisia; along with several officials from both governmental bodies and the private sector.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri emphasized the significant potential for enhancing bilateral cooperation in agriculture, food, and food security sectors. He noted that these areas are fundamental to both nations’ efforts in achieving sustainable food security and boosting local production.
He highlighted the UAE’s commitment to advancing economic collaboration with Tunisia in the upcoming period through the development of strategic partnerships in food manufacturing, modern agricultural technology, and sustainable food production practices.
Furthermore, he stated that the forum serves as an important opportunity to enhance communication between Emirati and Tunisian companies, exploring new avenues and partnerships in related sectors through the exchange of experiences and insights in value chain development and sustainable food security solutions.
Additionally, the forum is a unique platform to showcase the UAE’s efforts in advancing the food sector, highlighting the country’s pioneering capabilities in food manufacturing, advanced agricultural technologies, and sustainable food security projects.
He added that the UAE is now moving towards an economic cluster model in various sectors as part of its future economic vision, with the food economic cluster being at the forefront of this initiative.
This model combines agricultural production, food industry, and modern agricultural technologies into a cohesive framework based on cooperation and integration, enhancing competitiveness and empowering private sector companies involved in the food industry and its related activities.
In her remarks, Dr. Iman Ahmed Al Salami reiterated the strong bilateral relations between the two nations and the significance of the food industry sector in supporting the country’s food security strategy and future vision for advancing agricultural technology.
She remarked that Emirati companies serve as a pioneering example in the region in this field, and noted that the forum provides an opportunity to explore UAE-Tunisian partnership possibilities with the participation of key economic stakeholders from both nations.
