By the end of 2024, national brands have captured one-third of all registered brands in the country. This growth reflects the rising demand for goods and services as consumers and producers place significant trust in these brands due to their strong reputation. Consequently, national companies have expanded their operations by registering even more brands in the local market.
According to recent data released by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism, local brands accounted for 10,600 registered marks out of a total of 31,500 non-national brands registered locally by the end of last year.
National brands are leading in several key sectors, including: food and beverage companies, real estate development, trade businesses, telecommunications, technology and electronics, innovation, construction, as well as energy and various industrial activities. Additionally, there is a substantial number of brands related to shopping centers and different investment companies, along with specialized brands in the finance sector, banking, insurance, and consumer goods, such as automobiles, maintenance, clothing, gold, cosmetics, and the restaurant industry.
The data also indicates that Chinese brands ranked second with a total of 2,688 registrations, while American brands followed closely in third place with 2,646 registered marks. Gulf brands totaled 1,516, led by Saudi Arabia with 1,111 registrations, whereas other Arab countries contributed 500 brands, with Egypt holding the majority at 205 registered marks.
Furthermore, the historical data on trademarks shows that the total number of locally registered brands increased by over 94% in just two years, reaching 16,200 registered marks by the end of 2022.
