Seven Key Themes
This year, the focus of the summit will be on seven main themes, including: technology and innovation, clean and renewable energy sources, policies and legislation, financing, climate justice, climate adaptation and resilience, and youth and climate action.
High-level sessions will highlight the most impactful technological and practical solutions to combat climate change, emphasizing the empowerment of developing communities, expanding public-private partnerships, and enhancing international cooperation to build a more sustainable and inclusive future.
Strong Commitment
Her Excellency Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb stated: “The Global Green Economy Summit reaffirms the UAE’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, stemming from its recognition of the vast economic opportunities presented by the green economy.
In addition to its environmental impact, through channeling investments into sustainable projects, the nation overcomes environmental challenges while simultaneously opening new avenues for economic growth and job creation, aligning with national efforts to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 and enhancing the circular economy. The UAE continues to bolster its investments in renewable energy and develop innovative solutions to support a sustainable transformation.”
She added: “Collaboration and partnerships between the public and private sectors are the cornerstone of this journey. We believe that uniting efforts and sharing expertise is the optimal path to accelerate the global transition towards a true green economy.
Through this summit, which gathers leaders, decision-makers, and key participants from around the world, we unleash innovation and empower communities in pursuit of a more sustainable and prosperous future for all.”
Ideal Destination
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, Managing Director, and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, and President of the Global Green Economy Organization, remarked: “Our leadership’s unwavering support drives us to intensify efforts toward promoting global collaboration aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and accelerating the transition to a green economy, especially amid the pressing environmental and economic challenges faced by the world.”
He added: “The Global Green Economy Summit has become an ideal platform for stimulating endeavors to implement green policies, invest in clean energy production and storage technologies, and develop artificial intelligence and circular economies that minimize waste and reduce environmental impact, transforming the challenges of the green economy transition into a global opportunity for enhancing economic growth, job creation, and building a resilient future.”
Flavien Philomel Goupil, Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Climate Change in Seychelles, stated: “We live in an interconnected world, with limited resources and a limited capacity to withstand human misuse. All individuals across nations must consider this in their pursuit of development.”
Climate Justice
Max Andonirina Fontaine, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development in Madagascar, added: “Climate justice is an integral aspect of our daily struggle in Madagascar. Climate justice means standing by those who have lost their crops due to drought, their homes due to flooding, and often, by those who see their future lost due to indifference. The green transition must be just, or failure awaits us.
The green transition must restore balance, protect vulnerable groups, and open doors to opportunities where they are most needed.”
Aliya Muhammad, Minister of Tourism and Environment of the Maldives, noted: “As a small island developing state, the Maldives is committed to collaborating with global partners to enhance climate action and ensure a sustainable future for all.”
Engineer Najib Saab, Secretary General of the Arab Forum for Environment and Development, emphasized that achieving carbon neutrality is essential for combating climate change, which significantly affects the Arab region, requiring a radical transformation away from fossil fuel extraction and consumption.
