Empower, the largest provider of district cooling services globally, is participating in the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) conference and exhibition, themed “Linking Innovation with Sustainability.” This event is being held at the Lapita, Dubai Parks and Resorts and is set to run until October 5. During the opening address, Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Empower, highlighted the significant role that district cooling systems play in enhancing energy efficiency and supporting sustainability efforts, while also reflecting on Empower’s two-decade journey in developing and expanding its services in this field.

According to the CEO, “We are firmly committed to supporting sustainable development goals and reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global hub for innovation. Our strategy is focused on shaping a future for cooling systems that is more efficient and resilient, aligning with the vision of our wise leadership.”

Empower’s role as a key partner in global efforts to reduce emissions and achieve environmental sustainability aligns with Dubai’s Carbon Neutrality Strategy for 2050.

Ahmad Bin Shafar also disclosed ongoing consultations for new district cooling projects in Sharjah, Umm Al-Quwain, and Ras Al Khaimah, noting that Empower currently holds an 80% market share in the district cooling sector within the UAE.

This project includes nine plants, four of which are currently operational while two are in the design phase.
