Adibek Strengthens the UAE’s Leadership in Global Sustainable Energy Transition Efforts

Tomorrow marks the opening of the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC 2025), featuring over 1,800 speakers and 2,250 exhibiting companies, including 54 national and international energy firms. Expectations are high for business deals exceeding $10 billion, with an anticipated attendance of around 205,000 visitors from 160 countries worldwide.

Energy sector experts have stated that the UAE is at the forefront of global efforts to transition to sustainable energy. The long-standing hosting of ADIPEC, now in its 40th year, underscores the UAE’s significant role as a global hub for commercial collaboration and shaping the future of the energy sector.

This year’s event will see notable attendees including Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and CEO of ADNOC and its group of companies, along with Suhail Mohamed Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure. The event will gather 16,500 delegates and representatives, alongside a distinguished group of speakers, including government officials and global leaders from the energy, technology, and investment sectors. Discussions will take place in 380 specialized sessions under the theme: “Smart Energy for Accelerated Progress.”

ADIPEC will focus on three key areas: the Strategic ADIPEC Conference, the Technical Conference, and the Innovation Sessions.

Key Discussions

The conference aims to provide clear insights to achieve significant outcomes quickly and broadly. Discussions will involve ministers, CEOs, investors, and policymakers, covering ten main topics: global energy strategy, financing and investment, shipping and logistics, hydrogen, and carbon emissions reduction.

Five new topics have been added this year: digital transformation, artificial intelligence, diversity, leadership and development, liquefied natural gas (LNG), natural gas, emerging economies, manufacturing, and chemicals.

The Technical Conference will host sessions from the Society of Petroleum Engineers, along with discussions on refining, processing, marketing, and chemicals. The Innovation Sessions will feature four areas: artificial intelligence, digital transformation, chemicals and carbon reduction solutions, and maritime transportation and logistics.

The organizers have designated an area dedicated to artificial intelligence, aimed at discussing the integration of energy and AI sectors, showcasing the role of AI tools in enhancing energy systems. ADIPEC will also unveil the new Chemicals and Low Carbon Solutions Exhibition, featuring promising and innovative companies in hydrogen, ammonia, methanol, carbon capture, chemical industries, and clean energy.

A Noteworthy Event

Dr. Ali Al Amri, an energy sector expert and Chairman of Al Shumookh Group for Oil Services, believes that ADIPEC is a highly anticipated event among decision-makers and global energy companies, as well as economists around the world. He highlighted that the UAE has been hosting this significant event for over 40 years, establishing it as a key global player in the energy sector.

He noted that last year, over 200,000 visitors from 160 countries contributed to the success of the event, which resulted in deals worth more than $10 billion. He expects participation in ADIPEC 2025 to surpass last year’s numbers, attracting major stakeholders from the global energy sector to discuss the roles of AI and financing in accelerating the energy transition.

Engineer Ali Rashid Al Jorwan Al Shamisi, former CEO of Dragon Oil, affirmed that ADIPEC 2025 solidifies the UAE’s status as a primary gathering point for leaders in energy, investment, and technological advancement from around the world.

He added that the UAE is leading international efforts towards sustainable energy, emphasizing that more than four decades of hosting ADIPEC reflects its crucial role in fostering global cooperation and shaping the energy sector’s future. Al Jorwan stated that the UAE is among the pioneering nations in using clean energy, which represents the energy of the future.

International Leadership

Walid Shattah, President of Schneider Electric for the Middle East and Africa, stated that ADIPEC is one of the premier global events in the energy sector, convening international leaders from various fields to discuss energy, industry, and technology topics.

He explained that the UAE has a comprehensive system of policies and strategies promoting the transition to sustainable energy across all sectors, emphasizing the company’s commitment to providing the most advanced energy management and efficiency technologies in the UAE and the wider Middle East, which plays a crucial role in achieving global energy security.

Shattah added that ADIPEC serves as a global specialized platform and an important stop for renewing Schneider Electric’s commitment to effective partnerships that yield a positive impact for all involved. He noted the company’s regular participation in this global event as a specialist in energy technology.
