Civil Aviation Project Aims to Enhance Specialized Professional Qualifications in the Sector

The General Civil Aviation Authority, in collaboration with the National Qualifications Center under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has launched a project aimed at developing specialized professional qualifications in the aviation sector. This initiative will enable the certification of national professional qualifications that align with the requirements of the national qualifications framework, allowing certified pilots, aviation engineers, and air traffic controllers to align their licenses with a professional qualification.

This project is part of broader efforts to enhance the competency of the national workforce, increase their competitiveness in the job market, and expand professional development opportunities for those working in the sector.

The National Qualifications Center recognized the General Civil Aviation Authority in 2022 as a qualifying body in the aviation sector, which has reinforced its role in overseeing the development of national professional qualifications in accordance with the standards of the national qualifications framework.

Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of the General Civil Aviation Authority, stated, “This project reflects our strong belief that practical experience and professional skills deserve academic recognition, as this directly influences individuals’ ability to pursue their educational and professional pathways.”

This initiative also aims to enhance the quality of outcomes from accredited training institutions by aligning their programs with academic standards, thereby boosting the sector’s competitiveness and promoting sustainable growth and excellence. In addition, Taif Mohammed Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for the Sector of Higher Education and Scientific Research Regulation and Governance, added:

“The Ministry is committed to empowering national entities to develop and validate specialized professional qualifications that accurately reflect the needs of the sectors and the demands of practical training.”
