Emirates SkyCargo, the cargo division of the world’s largest international airline, has announced that it is upgrading its ground fleet by incorporating the latest Euro 6 models from MAN in collaboration with Al Tadamun Transport Company.
As the first airline in the region to utilize these heavy-duty trucks for long-haul transport, Emirates SkyCargo has added 40 cutting-edge vehicles that incorporate the latest trucking technology into its ground operations.
The Euro 6 truck engines comply with the highest global emissions standards, resulting in a significant reduction in harmful pollutant levels compared to earlier models. By replacing 40 vehicles from its existing fleet with the new Euro 6 trucks, Emirates SkyCargo anticipates a 17% annual decrease in carbon dioxide emissions from its road transportation.
Badr Abbas, Senior Vice President of Emirates SkyCargo, stated, “The addition of the Euro 6 trucks to our fleet marks a significant step in our commitment to more sustainable operations and our investment in future technologies, which will support the next phase of growth. We expect the volume of cargo moving to and from Dubai to continue increasing, driven by the ambitious targets of Dubai’s economic agenda.”
Emirates SkyCargo transports over 1,000 tons of goods daily, with its fleet of trucks serving as a vital link between Al Maktoum International Airport and Dubai International Airport, traveling the 77-kilometer route six times daily.
