Emirates Airlines Equips 232 Aircraft With “Starlink” Service

Emirates Airlines has announced the initiation of a comprehensive plan to equip its entire fleet with Starlink high-speed internet service, starting this November with its Boeing 777 aircraft. The full implementation of this project is projected to be completed by mid-2027.

This complimentary service will offer passengers internet access comparable to ground-level speeds during flights, reinforcing the airline’s commitment to delivering the best connectivity experiences in the global aviation sector.

With Starlink, Emirates passengers will be able to stream content, play online games, make calls, work, and browse social media throughout their journey, accessible both on seatback screens and personal devices simultaneously.

This technological integration signifies a transformative step toward a fully connected experience across all cabin classes on Emirates flights.

Emirates plans to install Starlink technology on all 232 active aircraft over the next two years. The first jet equipped with this service is a Boeing 777-300ER, registered as A6-EPF, currently showcased at the Dubai Airshow, where visitors can test the connection speed while on the ground.

The inaugural commercial flight featuring Starlink will take place right after the airshow on November 23, marking the official expansion of this service. Emirates aims to have 14 aircraft equipped with this technology each month, with installation on the Airbus A380 fleet commencing in February 2026.

The airline will install two antennas on each Boeing 777, and uniquely, three antennas on each Airbus A380 to ensure optimal coverage and connectivity capacity across all travel classes, enhancing the overall customer experience. Live television streaming via Starlink will initially be available on personal devices and will be rolled out to seatback screens by the end of December.

Starlink Wi-Fi will be entirely free for all passengers across all classes on equipped aircraft, enabling easy one-click access without any payments or Skywards membership requirements.

Sir Tim Clark, President of Emirates Airlines, stated: “Our partnership with Starlink marks a pivotal moment in our journey to establish global leadership in air travel experiences. We are elevating in-flight connectivity standards to unprecedented levels, making seamless productivity, instantaneous communication with loved ones, and constant engagement with the digital world integral to the flying experience with Emirates. This initiative is a new chapter in our comprehensive transformation across the fleet.”

He further added: “The installation of Starlink technology coincides with our extensive cabin refurbishment program, which includes the launch of entirely new premium economy cabins, enhancements in business class, and a luxurious redesign of first class, along with expanded entertainment systems providing the finest connectivity services globally. These integrated transformations demonstrate our determination to redefine air travel and establish Emirates as a global benchmark for innovation, quality, and excellence.”

Clark concluded: “Our philosophy at Emirates is straightforward yet profound; we remain steadfast in delivering the best without compromise. While some companies vary their offerings across fleets, we are committed to standardizing excellence, ensuring all our customers experience the finest Emirates products and services on every flight. This is why we invest in our comprehensive fleet modernization program; we believe that maintaining leadership requires constant innovation.”

He highlighted that advanced connectivity, luxurious cabins, diverse entertainment systems, and exceptional service by our cabin crew are the pillars of our commitment to enhancing and elevating travel experiences globally, solidifying Emirates’ status as a symbol of excellence and inspiration in aviation.

Chad Gibbs, Vice President of Starlink Operations at SpaceX, remarked: “With Starlink service aboard Emirates flights, passengers will be able to stream, game, and video call seamlessly, just as they would on the ground. We look forward to significantly enhancing the travel experience on Emirates while supporting the rapid installation of Starlink while maintaining the highest service quality levels.”

The introduction of Starlink marks a new chapter in Emirates’ ongoing mission to improve the in-flight experience for its customers, alongside the world’s most extensive in-flight entertainment system, offering over 6,500 on-demand content channels, and unique offerings like the onboard lounge and spa facilities in the first class of the iconic A380.

This strategic integration reflects the ambitious fleet modernization program comprising around 220 aircraft, with the Emirates Engineering team having already completed full upgrades on 76 aircraft. This includes the addition of the increasingly popular premium economy cabins and redesigning the business class for enhanced privacy and comfort, as well as upgrading first class suites into a more luxurious and distinctive variant, alongside comprehensive improvements across all cabin classes.
