The UAE and Scotland Explore Investment Opportunities in Innovation and Knowledge-Based Sectors

Investopia held the “Investopia – Edinburgh” event as part of its global dialogues, in partnership with the Scottish government. The aim was to explore investment cooperation opportunities, strengthen partnerships between the UAE and Scotland, and promote direct communication between the business communities of both sides, with a focus on innovation-driven sectors and the new economy.

Attendees included prominent government officials, business leaders, and investors from both the UAE and Scotland. Notable representatives from the UAE included His Excellency Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Qassim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Investment, His Excellency Mohammed Jumaa Al Musharrekh, Executive Director of the Sharjah Foreign Direct Investment Office “Invest in Sharjah,” and David Tabat, Chief Operating Officer of Investopia. From the Scottish side, attendance included the Honorable Kate Forbes, Deputy First Minister and Minister for Economy and Gaelic, alongside Adrian Gillespie, CEO of Scottish Enterprise.

His Excellency Mohammed Abdulrahman Al Qassim emphasized that both the UAE and Scotland share a closely aligned path of economic development. Both economies are rich in resources and are pursuing ambitious agendas to diversify and transition from traditional industries to future-focused enablement sectors. The countries are deeply interconnected through strategic investments and close cooperation between governments and the business sector, covering areas such as energy, infrastructure, technology, and financial services.

He added that the UAE remains committed to strengthening partnerships that support resilient and sustainable economic growth, providing Scottish companies with an attractive platform for regional and global expansion that is based on clear vision, stable investment environment, and access to promising future sectors.

On her part, Honorable Kate Forbes noted that the UAE and Scotland share a mutual vision for enhancing cooperation in strategic economic sectors including investment, education, technology, and renewable energy. She pointed out that recent meetings and mutual visits reflect the shared desire to continuously expand the partnership, thereby stimulating investments in Scotland’s most dynamic sectors and supporting the UAE’s efforts to diversify its economy while providing innovative solutions that align with the developmental goals of both sides.

David Tabat confirmed that “Investopia – Edinburgh” embodies Investopia’s commitment to fostering investment dialogue and establishing effective communication bridges between global markets. Since its launch in 2021, Investopia has become a trusted global platform for transforming dialogue into partnerships and partnerships into investments that support sustainable growth and future readiness.

He explained that the event serves as a significant milestone in enhancing dialogue between the UAE and the UK, particularly Scotland, as it gathers decision-makers and business leaders to explore collaboration opportunities and establish long-term investment pathways. Investopia continues to play its role in connecting ideas with opportunities and strengthening cross-border partnerships.

The discussions held during the event focused on showcasing available investment opportunities, highlighting priority economic sectors, and discussing mechanisms for building long-term partnerships that support sustainable economic growth and enhance integration between the investment frameworks of both nations.

The program featured a discussion session that showcased the investment environment in Scotland, the innovation-driven economic development framework, leading sectors, and the competitive advantages that Scotland offers to international investors, as well as emphasizing qualitative partnership opportunities across markets.

Additionally, a session dedicated to understanding the investment climate in the UAE was conducted, emphasizing the evolution of the investment ecosystem, priority sectors, and factors that enhance the attractiveness of the UAE as a regional and global center for quality investments, in the context of policies that support economic growth and the new economy.

A strategic roundtable was also held, discussing ways to enhance investment opportunities, develop partnerships between business communities, and exchange views on developing joint projects in future sectors, contributing to supporting the investment corridor between the UAE and Scotland.

On the sidelines of the event, Investopia signed a cooperation agreement with Scottish Enterprise, aimed at organizing a Scottish delegation’s participation in the fifth edition of Investopia in Abu Dhabi, scheduled for March 31 to April 2, 2026, thereby supporting the expansion of investment cooperation and improving communication between the business communities of the UAE and Scotland.

The agreement was signed by David Tabat, COO of Investopia, and Adrian Gillespie, CEO of Scottish Enterprise.

The “Investopia – Edinburgh” event concluded with one-on-one networking sessions among companies, allowing participants to explore potential collaboration opportunities and establish new investment relationships, thereby supporting the integration between the markets of both countries.
