Dubai Aerospace Enterprise (DAE) announced on Thursday that it has reached an agreement with Royal Air Maroc to lease 13 new Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The expected delivery date for these planes is set for 2027. This announcement follows a previous agreement to lease two similar aircraft to the Moroccan flag carrier, which are slated for delivery in 2025.
Firoz Tarapor, CEO of DAE, expressed gratitude to the Royal Air Maroc team for selecting DAE as a partner in their fleet expansion project. He highlighted Morocco’s growing role as a hub for tourism and business in Africa and noted the significant increase in air connectivity driven by Royal Air Maroc. Tarapor also emphasized DAE’s commitment to supporting Royal Air Maroc in meeting its future fleet requirements.
Abdelhamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, stated that the agreement aligns with the airline’s strategic goals to enhance its position as a global connectivity hub. The addition of Boeing 737-8 aircraft will aid in developing the destination network by facilitating the opening of new routes and increasing flight frequencies with improved operational efficiency. This, he noted, will enhance the airline’s flexibility to meet growing demand and ensure reliable connections between Africa, Europe, and beyond.
DAE currently owns and manages a fleet of approximately 750 aircraft, including 237 Boeing planes, with ongoing plans for fleet expansion to meet rising market demand.
