Stella Li, the CEO and President of BYD for the Americas and Europe, announced that the company has selected the United Arab Emirates to establish fast-charging stations with a capacity of one megawatt. These stations will be capable of providing enough energy for electric vehicles to travel 400 kilometers in just five minutes.
During the launch of a new BYD model in Dubai, Li stated that the company intends to construct several hundred of these ultra-fast chargers across the UAE and other Gulf countries. The total number of chargers planned for the Gulf region is expected to range from 500 to 1,000, with implementation set to be completed in under two years.
Li also indicated that the company is prepared to supply electric buses and coaches to the UAE and GCC nations. Over the past three years, BYD has invested significantly in artificial intelligence and software development, which has been showcased in various vehicles featuring self-driving and self-parking technologies.
She emphasized that the company’s strategy is based on three primary pillars: generating electricity from solar energy, storing it in batteries, and utilizing it to power electric vehicles. To date, BYD’s efforts have contributed to avoiding more than 86 billion kilograms of carbon dioxide emissions.
