DB World Partners With PayPal for Cross-Border Digital Payment Solutions

Dubai Ports World has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with the global trade platform PayPal to collaborate on a pioneering initiative in the realm of digital payments, aiming to simplify and accelerate cross-border business operations.

This agreement, which enables transactions to be completed in minutes rather than days, underscores Dubai Ports World’s ongoing commitment to creating a secure and scalable market for digital payments. The digital payments initiative from Dubai Ports World will empower merchants, shippers, exporters, importers, and global markets at large to carry out cross-border payments with greater transparency, reduced costs, and shorter financial settlement times.

According to Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of Dubai Ports World: “Speed and transparency are fundamental pillars in the logistics sector, and our collaboration with PayPal seeks to provide our clients with reliable options for cross-border payments that are faster and more transparent than traditional systems, without compromising security standards. By streamlining global transactions, we enable businesses of all sizes to grow, move swiftly, and operate more efficiently within their markets.”

Bin Sulayem further remarked: “These solutions represent another significant milestone in Dubai Ports World’s journey towards reshaping supply chains and ensuring the flow of trade. Partnerships such as this allow us to offer trustworthy digital solutions that align with global trade priorities, helping businesses and individuals carry out their commercial transactions more effectively.”

Alex Chris, President and CEO of PayPal, stated: “Global trade functions best when payments are swift, transparent, and secure. This is precisely what our collaboration with Dubai Ports World offers. For too long, traditional cross-border payment systems have not adequately served the needs of global businesses. Therefore, today we are setting a new standard that we are pleased to mark as a unique achievement in a crucial region striving to establish itself as a global hub for digital innovation, while we continue to develop more interconnected and inclusive financial services for companies around the world.”

By combining Dubai Ports World’s extensive expertise in supply chains with PayPal’s reliable and secure payment infrastructure, this platform aims to eliminate barriers in international trade and support businesses with greater efficiency, flexibility, and trust.
